Purpose: The purpose of First Southern Baptist Church’s Celebrate Recovery ministry is to fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives through the "8 Recovery Principles." This experience allows us to "be changed." By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power. |

History: Our Celebrate Recovery group began meeting on Friday, January 7, 2005. That night there were only sixteen participants including four leaders. We had one men’s open share group and one women’s open share group. Now, we typically see bout 50 participants. There are multiple men’s open share groups and women’s open share groups. We also have men’s step studies and women’s step studies meeting during the week. But we have seen much more than a growth in attendance. We have seen the spiritual growth and healing in our lives. |
